Obituary of Bart C Schott
Bart C. Schott, 58, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Bart's life began on August 5, 1964 in Phillipsburg, NJ. In 1982 he graduated from Warren Hills High School, married in 1986, and began his career at Hoffman LaRoche in Belvidere, NJ (which later became DSM Nutritional Products) in 1988 where he later retired.
As you read this, you are likely flooded with some favorite memories of Bart. Some may remember calling this hard-working guy for help as he could design, fix or build almost anything and made sure his daughter learned this as well. Some may remember ski trips, or yearly tubing parties down the Delaware River. Others may remember one of the parties he planned and/or hosted, many in his beloved barn. Bart could find the smallest reason to celebrate, his ability to party plan earning him the nickname Julie McCoy (TV show reference). Still others may remember joining him for an Eagles game, or camping, kayaking, biking, or just about any kind of outdoor activity. Vacations down the shore or more recently, buzzing down the road on his scooter. Most of your memories will include something that was fun – this was his hallmark and what he would wish to be remembered for.
Close family members who will carry his memory in their hearts include his mother, Darleen (Schaare) Schott, and his father, Bruce Schott and his wife Leslie Schott, beloved wife Mary (Geiger) and cherished daughter Jocelyn Buttice and her husband Dominic, and his newest joy, grandchildren Penelope and Leo; as well as his siblings Milene Draper and Brooks Schott, sister-in-law Heather. Family meant everything to Bart, and he loved spending time with his paternal nieces and nephews and their families: Lauren Collins, Lindsey Coyle, Nikki, Reece, and Chase Schott. Also carrying Bart's memory will be Mary's siblings Sanna Scheuerman and Mark Geiger, sister-in-law Donna and nieces Morgan and Macy Geiger, and brother-in-law Bill Scheuerman.
As your own memories of this life well-lived unfold, many will likely include Bart's ability to live life to the fullest and encourage others to do so as well. Rest assured; he carried his sense of humor to the very end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. One of his last wishes was to "Make a toast to me now and then." Dilly Dilly.
As per his wishes, an informal celebration of Bart's life will be held at Hunter's Lodge, 64 US Highway 46, Columbia, NJ on Saturday, June 10th. Please stop by to share your memories anytime between the hours of 2 and 4 pm. A celebration toast to Bart's life will be held at 4:00 PM. to In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bart's memory to National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, 5550 West Executive Drive, Suite #200, Tampa, FL 33609, https://nationalpcf.org OR Happiness Is Camping, 62 Sunset Lake Road, Hardwick, NJ 07825, https://www.happinessiscamping.org OR towards his grandchildren's college fund, care of Mary Schott.
