Obituary of Nicholas Nichols

Nicholas "Nick" Nichols, 84, of Washington, NJ (formerly of Belvidere, NJ) passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center. Nick was born on May 17, 1938 in Staten Island, NY to the late Modestos and Margaret Nichols. He was a graduate of Port Richmond High School class of 1956. He married the love of his life Sheila (nee; Sheehan) Nichols on September 30, 1962, celebrating 57 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2019. Nick proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was employed as a salesman prior to his retirement in 2008. Nick loved automobiles and was an avid Jazz fan. Some of his favorites were Dean Martin, Glen Miller and Frank Sinatra. He was of the Greek Orthodox faith and a parishioner of Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Randolph, NJ. Above all he loved his family and cherished the moments spent together. He will be greatly missed. Nick is survived by his loving sons, Gregory N. Nichols and his partner Catherine Ostenfeld and James T. Nichols and his wife Melissa. His adored grandchildren, Hannah Nichols; Peter and Kevin Nichols; and step-grandsons, Christopher and Kyle Ostenfeld. He also leaves behind his siblings, brothers, John Nichols and George Nichols and his sister Olga Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife Sheila Sheehan Nichols. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral service will be held on Saturday April 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. John Theodosion officiating. Entombment will follow service at Union Cemetery, 153 Mountain Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's name to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St. Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
