Obituary of Gregory McConnell

Gregory A. McConnell Sr., 56, of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away on August 30, 2022 at Hackettstown Hospital. Greg was born in Rome, NY on May 12, 1966 to the late Harold and Kathleen "Gibson" McConnell. He grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Voorhees High School class of 1984. Prior to Greg's retirement as head of Custodial/maintenance at the Franklin Township Board of Education, he was a past Special Police Officer for Lebanon Township. Greg moved onto his true passion as a mechanic where he worked alongside his brother Mark at Califon Towing. Eventually moving onto Toys R Us maintaining their fleet of tractor trailers. He was an active member and past president of the Mansfield Township Fire Company No. 1. Greg was also a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen Association. He was a past member and EMT for Lebanon First Aid Squad. He was also an Eagle Scout with troop 92. Above all Greg was a family man and cherished the time he spent with them. Greg's family takes some solace in his death, as Greg was an organ donor and knowing he has given someone else the gift of life. Greg is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Edith "Edie" McConnell; his sons, Gregory A. McConnell Jr. and his significant other Suzan Krainatz; Jon McConnell and his wife Jennifer and Christopher McConnell; a sister, Rebecca Simanski and her husband Blair, brothers, Jeff and his wife Laura and Mark McConnell and his wife Jill. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Greg's life on Sunday September 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Mansfield Township Fire Company Hall. 324 Main Street. Port Murray, NJ 07865.
