Obituary of Walter Harrison

Walter R. Harrison, 88, of Washington Township, NJ, died Friday, April 11, 2008 in Warren Hospital. Born: December 11, 1919 in Easton, he was a son of the late Walter and Florence Harrison. Personal: Walter lived in Washington Township for the past 50 years, having lived in Oxford, NJ before that. He was a machinist for Ingersoll-Rand, Phillipsburg for 31 years, retiring in 1982. Walter farmed locally all his life. He loved all aspects of farming: horses, cows, mules and tractors. He could always be found helping his family with everyday projects. Memberships: He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Survivors: A daughter, Shirley Beers and her husband Howard of Mt. Bethel, Pa., three sons, Thomas and his wife Carol of Harmony Township, Randall and his wife Melody of Belvidere, Bruce and his wife Barbara of Washington; 12 grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Heather, Tucker, David, Jillian, Kristy, Jason, Kyle, Keith, Kevin and Korynne and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Marian, in 1992; a son Bryan in 1985, a brother, Watson, and a sister, Bessie Strawn. Services: A visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ, 07882. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Warren Hills Memorial Home. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Oxford. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Drive, Newton, NJ 07860.
