Born February 14, 1934 in Lynbrook, NY to the late Abram and Grace (Hanson) Henderson (later Martin), Bette attended Hampton High School and lived most of her life in Glen Gardner, NJ, where she once served as the Tax Collector. She is survived by her children: Richard Heft, Jr., and his wife Roseanna, Steve, and his wife Ann, Jeffrey, and his wife Ria, Jennifer Schwartz and her fiancé John Dumschat, and Jason Cahill and wife Kelly, as well as two brothers, Richard and William Henderson, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bette is also pre-deceased by her longtime later-in-life companion, Richard Apgar, who passed in 2018.
An avid bowler, a skilled and tenacious cardplayer, and a worthy opponent at horseshoes, Bette loved cruises and bingo, Beanie Babies and baking, and Easter weekend with the whole family.
