Obituary of John L Knecht

John L Knecht, 83, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2016 at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Mansfield, NJ. He was born on January 4, 1933 in Passaic, NJ to the late Hans and Edith Knecht John was previously of Belvidere and Randolph, NJ, he proudly served his country as a LT. in the US Navy. He attended Kent school in Connecticut and graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelor’s in Arts. He also attended the New School in New York where he earned his Master’s degree in sociology and Phycology. John was employed as an editor, writer and a public relations specialist. He also worked as a real estate sales broker and corporate moving consultant prior to his retirement in 1995. John was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed writing plays and listening to music. John also wrote plays and performed at summer stock in Cape Cod. He had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. Playing the piano was another favorite pastime along with writing musicals, newsletter and an inspiring book. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years Maria, 2 loving daughters, Krista Doyle and her husband Raymond and Julie Lindroth and her husband John. A son, John R Knecht, 2 stepsons, Steven Polgar and Peter Polgar. A sister, Susan Hallock and 10 cherished grandchildren. In abiding by John’s wishes, services will be private.
