Obituary of Marilyn J Sendell

Marilyn J Sendell, 71, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016 in St. Luke’s Warren Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1944 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to the late Victor and Mary Metzinger. Her beloved brother Daniel Metzinger passed away in 1995. Marilyn was a graduate of Battin High School in Elizabeth, NJ class of 1962. She went on to earn her Bachelor degree in Teaching from Montclair State University, graduating in 1966. She met the love of her life Richard Sendell and they married on April 2nd, 1966. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 2 of this year. She was employed as a paralegal working for Gordon & Rees in Florham Park, NJ. Marilyn was of the Methodist faith. She volunteered for CASA and was a court appointed child advocate. She also worked with the suicide prevention program and was a member of the Washington Township Environmental Commission and Land Use Board. She was a life member of the League of Woman’s voters in Roselle Park, NJ. She enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano. She was an avid reader. Above all she treasured her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her devoted husband Richard Sendell and loving children. A son Richard Sendell III and his wife Julia. A daughter Lauren Schlaffer and her husband Carlos. A sister, Dorothy Baynham and her husband Carl. And 6 cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Daniel, Abigail, Brooke and Courtney. Marilyn is preceded in death by a brother Daniel Metzinger who passed away in 1995 Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday March 23, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Service will be held Thursday March 24, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the United Presbyterian Church, 100 Fifth Street, Mt. Carmel, PA 17851. Burial will immediately follow church service at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Pennsylvania. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to the American Cancer Society.
