Obituary of Wilbur T. Foss

Wilbur T. Foss, 86, of Lopatcong Township, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in Warren Hospital. Born: May 20, 1917, in Oxford, a son of the late Elisha Foss and Ella Tresize. Personal: He had lived in Lopatcong Township for 12 years. He lived in Oxford for most of his life. He was an engineer for GPU Nuclear Corporation for 14 years, retiring in 1982. He had also worked for Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg earlier in life. Wilbur was a self taught and very talented musician, gifted in playing the piano, accordion, violin and guitar. He played with local bands in the 1930s and 1940s. He also enjoyed traveling. Memberships: He was a 50-year member of Second Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Survivors: three nieces, Sharon Snyder, Joan Foss and Rhonda Olswski, all of Oxford; and a nephew, Douglas Vorbach of Colo. Wilbur was predeceased by two brothers, Merrill in 1982, and Luther in 1988; and a sister, Mary Vorbach in 1994. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Warren Hills/Ford Memorial Home, with the Rev. Joicy Becker Richards officiating. Call 8:30 a.m. to time of service Saturday in the funeral home. Burial in Hazen Cemetery in White Township.
