Obituary of Edward W Ryan

Edward W. Ryan 89, 0f Washington Twp, NJ formally of South Plainfield, NJ passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2015. Born on January 5, 1926 in Union City, NJ to the late William and Florence Ryan Ed graduated from Snyder high school in Jersey City, NJ class of 1942. He joined the US Navy and served proudly aboard the USS Quincy which participated in the Normandy landings in France. Ed was also present during the Potsdam conference with President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. After victory in Europe Ed was later stationed in the Pacific until the Japanese surrender which ended WWII. After the war Ed married his soulmate Patricia "Martin" in 1948. Ed was employed as a fork truck driver for Fischer Scientific in Springfield, NJ. Retiring in 1988. After moving to Washington he worked at Fairway Valley Golf course for 20 years. He enjoyed golfing and home improvement projects around the house. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Patricia; a sister Beatrice Clement; a nephew Charles Clement; nieces Florence DeMatteo and Leigh Ann Insigna. Ed was preceded in death by a brother Buddy Ryan and a sister Doris Pierce. Services; Friends and family may call on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, 85 Academy St. Oxford, NJ 07863. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield, NJ. Memorial donation may be made in Edward's name to St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, 85 Academy St. Oxford, NJ 07863.
